The Makers of Animal Crackers are endangering their lives quite actively
Is Mondelez International, the maker of Triscuits, Tang and Oreo doing everything right for this planet? The answer is that they have failed this earth and disappointed in terms of handling human rights and raising voice against deforestation. The human rights have been abused. Representatives of this company have been mixed up in sourcing palm oil from land that has been illegally cleared in the Leuser ecosystem. This has affected the already critically endangered tigers, orangutans and Sumatran rhinoceros. It is such a paradox that the makers of animal crackers are endangering animals quite actively. Their justifications and excuses are wearing as thin as their Nilla wafers and crumbling as swiftly as Ritz crackers.
Mondelez has been connected to huge fires set by humans for oil palming cultivation in Indonesia. These fires have put almost ten million children at grave risk. They have also been linked to causing major deforestation in the Amazon. This is one planetary treasure that is dying a slow death and reaching a point of no return.
Deforestation is also wrecking the lives of rural women in Lake Toba area. This is the reason why indigenous women from this region are revolting against corporate bigwigs.
