The Trans Mountain Pipeline – Is it worth the big risk?!

So far, eighteen insurers have already dropped Trans Mountain because of the detrimental impact on local communities and drinking water issues but Liberty Mutual has remained silent. This project is in direct violation of human rights, as it does not have consent from indigenous communities. It has to be noted that if that isn’t bad enough, Liberty is also known for dropping coverage for people in areas most affected by climate disasters. Liberty Mutual maybe sensitive to any threats that spoil their `wholesome’ and `community-driven’ brand reputation. Whatever, The Trans Mountain pipeline is not worth the risk involving the health and safety of frontline communities and the threat to local wildlife. Trans Mountain poses massive threats to surrounding wildlife. From Anna’s hummingbirds to Orcas in the northern Pacific, this pipeline risks animals all along its route through Western Canada. Entire ecosystems are at risk and that is a big threat to local communities too. It looks like Liberty Mutual will decide the fate of the Trans Mountain Pipeline — and the fate of so many lives — when they decide whether or not to renew its insurance certificate The Trans Mountain pipeline, at some point, will break and leak, causing toxic tar sands oil to pollute drinking water and wild salmon habitats. Communities have called for a stop to the pipeline in order to protect the salmon — a food source and a large part of local economies; but their demands have been ignored. Ecosystems are connected. It’s not just a risk to a few animals in the short- term. Projects such as these cover hundreds of miles, carrying thousands of tons of tar sands oil. It harms everything along their path - people, animals, water and air. Despite the risks to protected animals, drinking water, frontline communities and our shared climate — construction has continued as the project continues to be insured. Tar sands oil releases three times more pollution than conventional oil and the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion will triple the pipeline’s oil capacity — making it one of the most carbon intensive projects in the world. That’s why it’s so critical to consider about this expansion, NOW! The science is telling us that we cannot afford any new fossil fuel expansion. Trans Mountain Pipeline is literally a life-threatening expansion project. Will the government heads think about our environment and stop their greedy planning?!

Intellect and its Limitations

“Pride goeth on horseback and cometh back on foot” – Anonymous What is the capacity of intelligence? Intelligence has been defined in more than one way; it is the capacity for abstraction, logic, understanding, self-awareness, learning, reasoning, creativity and problem-solving. Yet our intelligence has several limitations and that includes the inability to process large amounts of information simultaneously as we have limited memory and self-control and have the vulnerability to make mistakes when processing complicated tasks. Each restriction suppresses the amount of data processed in a given situation and time. Social regulations often act as hindrances in being honest in life. We have to go along with the world, a world which is honoured for its reason and intellect. Anything that is connected with feeling is deemed as persona non-grata. It is not welcome. We are caught up in a network of social rituals and make-believes that hit upon us hard and bind us down like prisoners in a cage of ignorance and sub-conscious habits, whether they have any relevance to fact or not. Intellect, like any machine, has its limitations. If understanding a concept was like a recipe, we would require several ingredients such as memory, information and practice; they are all interlinked. The bad news is that our brain makes us all very limited in our access to these. To get information, we have to focus our concentration on what we want to learn. We are not very successful at multi-tasking. With limited attention comes limited input. There is a lot out there that we could study as there is no dearth of information but our capacity to grasp new information is definitely capped. Many spiritualists would come forward and say that intellectual exercise of a religious practice is honoured and appreciated among seekers such as kundalini yoga and hatha yoga. These practices are all good enough in their own way and nothing is wrong with them but they are not sufficient to attain superiority of the intellect. There are secrets within men which even angels cannot know easily. God only knows what is inside us; even we cannot know wholly what is within us. So, it is a part of our wisdom to be a little cautious in assessing the various components of our nature and the building bricks of our personality. It is not easy to see what stuff we are really made of. The occupations in our lives prevent us from being leisurely in our thoughts and we are often drifting because of our vocations. The office work, the business and shopping keep us busy, so that there is not enough leisure to ponder deeply into the substance of what we are made of. We seem to be made out of our social relations in the sense of the atmosphere in which we are living, at every given moment of time. When we are in USA, we think like the Americans; when we are in England, we think like the British; when we are in the midst of orthodoxy, our thinking is orthodox, so that we do not know what exactly the true environment of ours is. Yet, there is an environment of our own which we seldom encounter by reason of the storm of social air that blows over us. Even if we have a small social circle like a four-member family, we cannot be entirely true to ourselves. We are controlled by our fathers, our mothers, our brothers, our sisters and many other relations of this type. We simply cannot be ourselves even when living in a small family, because we are afraid of what others think; and it is much worse if we are in a larger community where every eye is looking at us. Memory depends on the formation of fresh neural connections and we have a restricted number of these connections. When we grow old, it becomes harder for our brains to create new connections and existing connections get overloaded with various memories. It becomes harder to learn and also harder to remember, as we tend to start confusing facts and events. In a comfortable society and a safe atmosphere, submerged feelings are not likely to get manifested. If we promise our creditor that he would be paid after two months, he goes with satisfaction because the promise is given; but if he knows that we are not going to pay, that will become a different matter. He will shout and stand at our door. This defensive attitude of our feelings will be known to us either when we are opposed by our atmosphere in every way or when we are totally alone, left to ourselves on a mountain top with no chance of satisfaction of any kind for a defined period. We will be dreaming of the pleasures of the world. If we go far away from human settlements, the desires become more serious and restless because they know they cannot get anything they want; but, if we live in a city, there is a promise that our desires may get fulfilled and our emotions stay in control. The feeling of security that we feel is very important. An insecure person is always dwelling in a state of turmoil and hot water. So, the human intellect or capacity to understand is the capability of a mind to generalise experiences, to work with abstract conditions and to make conclusions from assumptions. The deterioration of the human intellect could be attributed to depression, stress or disease and to vandalism, terrorism or militancy in societies that tend to threaten humanity with extinction. For effectively using information to form a deep understanding, you need to practice. Besides extremely important events, an effective way to form long-term memories is only through practice. It has to be remembered that we don’t have unlimited time to practice everything that we want to learn and there is a practical limit to our understanding of things that are happening in the world. We are always used to seeing beauty and pleasure in this world, but we cannot see it in God. Intellect will expand if we understand this concept. Ironically, the moment we speak the name of God, there is a sense of fear within us. We are frightened because of the judgment and punishment of the soul out of earthly misdeeds and intentions. People do not project love for God as they do for their parents, their husbands or wives and children. What people are failing to understand is that God is not just a police commissioner or an army general, but a source of beauty and glory. Those who have an understanding of the beauty and power of the spirit and its relationship with the Creator realise that beauty is a subtle secret that creeps silently into us in a private manner and does not operate publicly like the mathematical calculations of a scientist.

Situation of Blindness in India

India is now home to the world's largest number of blind people. Of the 37 million people across the globe who are blind, over 15 million are from India. 75% of these are cases of avoidable blindness. This is because of the acute shortage of optometrists and donated eyes for the treatment of corneal blindness. While India needs 40,000 optometrists, it has only 8,000. While India needs 250,000 donated eyes every year, the country's 109 eye banks manage to collect a maximum of just 25,000 eyes, 30% of which can't be used. Epidemiology The blind population in India is estimated to rise to 15 million by the year 2020. Cataract is the leading cause of blindness in India while refraction error and glaucoma are the second and third leading causes of blindness respectively in India. In India since trachoma is limited, onchocerciasis is non-existent; glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy and corneal diseases form priorities. CAUSE FOR BLINDNESS PERCENTAGE OF CONTRIBUTION Cataract 62.6% Refraction Error 19.7% Glaucoma 5.8% Corneal pathologies 0.9% Surgical complication 1.2% Posterior Segment Disorder 4.8% Other Causes 5.0% Prevention and Control National Program for Control of Blindness was launched in the year 1976 as a 100% Centrally Sponsored scheme with the goal to reduce the prevalence of blindness from 1.4% to 0.3%. As per Survey in 2001-02, prevalence of blindness is estimated to be 1.1%. Rapid Survey on Avoidable Blindness conducted under NPCB during 2006-07 showed reduction in the prevalence of blindness from 1.1% (2001-02) to 1% (2006-07). The main focus of the program is • To reduce the backlog of blindness through identification and treatment of blind at primary, secondary and tertiary levels based on assessment of the overall burden of visual impairment in the country. • Develop and strengthen the strategy of NPCB for “Eye Health” and prevention of visual impairment through provision of comprehensive eye care services and quality service delivery. • • Strengthening the existing and developing additional human resources and infrastructure facilities for providing high quality comprehensive Eye Care in all Districts of the country. • to enhance community awareness on eye care and lay stress on preventive measures; • Increase and expand research for prevention of blindness and visual impairment. • to secure participation of Voluntary Organizations/Private Practitioners in eye Care Blindness is defined under following headings: Simple Definition: • Inability of a person to count fingers from a distance of 6 meters or 20 feet Technical Definition: • Vision 6/60 or less with the best possible spectacle correction • Diminution of field vision to 20 or less in better eye

How useful is fasting?

Eating is necessary for life. It gives nourishment to the body. It also helps in establishing a cultural identity. Sometimes, people express themselves in the way when they choose not to eat. Fasting is staying away from food intentionally for a specified period of time. The word is taken from the Anglo-Saxon `faesten’ which means `to hold you from food’. Fasting has been practiced for thousands of years as part of religious ceremonies. The Red Indians used to fast to motivate fertility and to help cure certain diseases. Babylonians were fasting as a penance for their sins. Jews fasted for atonement and purification from sins. Buddhists fast on full moon days. Catholics fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. Eastern Orthodox members fast during the entire period of Lent. Mormons fast on the first Sunday of each month. Muslims fast during the month of Ramazan where they want to overhaul their physical body with the excess waste and fat deposited in the body and also as a form of will power and sustenance without food and water during the day. Today, people who are not interested in religion fast for political and health reasons. People fast for cholesterol screening and fasting blood sugar checks and before major surgeries. When a person stays away from food for more than a few hours, the body draws on stored forms of energy to perform normally. When you don’t take protein, your body starts to break down your muscle to get the amino acids. Long term fasting can damage your heart along with your liver and kidneys. Some people think that avoiding food to lose weight may be a good idea but it is definitely not a healthy thought. Fasting is not a good way to lose weight. People who fast put their weight back when they resume their eating habits as before. Modern medicos have also declared that prolonged fasting is unhealthy for the body. For political reasons, people have gone on hunger strikes. This is utter nonsense. It is another way of self immolation or suicide. The father of the Indian Nation may have been successful but this is not a method which is considered effective nowadays. It shows womanliness and spineless behavior in the form of emotional blackmail. Fasting may be good once in a while but it is not the answer for good health of the body and the mind.

Reverse Osmosis and the importance of Cooling Towers Water Treatment

Treating the water of the cooling towers is an important part of the operations process for several industries. Without it, there is a possibility of the quality of the product as well as productivity suffering immensely as it will be affected by scaling, corrosion, microbiological contamination and fouling. It will also result in the loss of transfer of heat in the cooling towers, leading to failure in equipment and bringing out health concerns. Water Treatment Solutions There are several water treatment solutions providers for cooling towers in India. To understand this process, people have to know about the techniques of osmosis and reverse osmosis. Osmosis is the process of the movement of a solvent like water that goes through a living cell or a semi-permeable membrane into some higher concentration of solute on both sides of the membrane. Reverse osmosis is the process of the movement of water through this semi-permeable membrane by the application of pressure when applied to the solution such as sea water on one side of the membrane. Reverse Osmosis and Chemical Manufacturers and Exporters in India There are many RO chemicals manufacturers in India. RO (reverse osmosis) is the technique where they use quality and purified water in biochemical applications and in semiconductor processing. RO chemical is used when treating the boiler feed water, process water and the industrial waste water. This process of water purification diminishes the quantity of the solids which are dissolved in the solution. The process of reverse osmosis was initially developed in the United States of America in the nineteen fifties when it needed to covert sea water into fresh drinking water for the members of its navy. When seawater purification was achieved, the industrial sector followed suit to convert waste water to purified water for several applications. Today, in India, you will come across many a cooling tower chemical exporter. Big steps have been taken to minimize the effect of scaling. Chemical and ion exchange techniques have been used in pre-treatment processes. The ion exchange techniques remove the species that form the scales from the RO feed water and the chemical techniques transform the characteristics of the feed water to prevent crystal formation. An example of this would be lime softening where the hardness in the waste water can be reduced and it prevents the material from precipitating outwards. The effect of using RO Chemical RO Chemical can improve the membrane performance by the reverse osmosis system. Polluted membranes can have a negative impact through the impurities which build up on their surface during operations. Microorganisms or suspended solids pollute the elements of the membrane. These kinds of deposits can cause a loss in the output and will also mar the system performance. The main function of the RO chemical is to reduce the deposits and the impurities in the membranes of the system. Exclusively designed chemicals like antiscalants and RO powder cleaners by various RO chemicals manufacturers in India become helpful in the prevention of contaminants from attaching to the surface of the membranes.

Honey: The Elixir of Life

Honey is recognized as a delicious food supplement that is used on the dining table for eating with porridge or cereals and as an ingredient to make the tea taste nice. Not many people are aware of the benefits of honey; not only as a food ingredient but as a healthcare product. Eyebrows are raised when there are suggestions to use honey on our hair or skin. People are ignorant and detached on the benefits provided by honey through the ages towards maintenance of healthy skin and hair. Amazing Ingredients of Honey Honey has never been dependent on additives to prevent it from getting spoilt. This must have been a real blessing during the ages where there was no refrigerator. Modern scientists have discovered at a later stage that honey had powerful antioxidant properties, giving us a strong source of enzymes, minerals, amino acids and vitamins. These ingredients help us in reducing the inflammation in cells and in promoting cellular regeneration. This is the secret behind keeping the skin fresh and youthful. Today, honey has become a frequent ingredient in several cosmetic products and thousands of commercial beauty products are being made with honey and its ingredients. Properties of Honey It contains high quantities of monosaccharide, fructose and glucose. Its sweet taste comes from its sugar content of almost seventy per cent. Minerals and water build up the remaining part of its composition. Honey also has antibacterial and antiseptic properties, as we learn from http://honeyfanatic.com. Modern science has taught us the benefits of honey in its useful applications in wound management. It may come as a surprise to the modern scientists that honey was used to treat wounds as far back as pre-ancient Egyptian days. Honey and its usefulness through the Ages Historical records point out to Cleopatra, hailed as one of the most beautiful women in the world, applying a honey mask to her face each morning. She is also known to have taken honey and milk baths to keep her skin smooth and healthy. Honey is also the secret behind a youthful look even in middle age. In the Ming Dynasty too in China, women at the court of the emperor applied honey with ground orange to keep their hair and skin beautiful and renewed. More than four thousand years ago, honey was used as a conventional Ayurvedic medicine in India and it was thought to be useful to treat imbalances in our body. Ancient Greeks thought that eating honey would help them live longer. There is not a civilization that has not praised the qualities of honey. In the Arabian world, it was considered as a great healing food. The benefits of honey have even been lauded in the Holy Quran which mentions in one of its chapters on how the Almighty Creator taught the bee to build its cells in hills, in trees and in the habitations of men. It talks about how men have been guided to drink the product from within the bodies of the bees to be healed. This is a food for thought.

Understanding Chiropractic Therapy and its Benefits

Chiropractors are mostly approached by people for back pain treatment. The patients are first evaluated for their individual spinal problems to determine a course of treatment. Each treatment schedule is worked out as per the individual needs of a patient. Treatment could be required for a herniated disc, back pain, pregnancies, pediatrics, nervous system or athletic injuries. Chiropractors adopt different strategies of treatment. Some are of an opinion that spinal adjustment is all the treatment that a body needs to heal itself while others focus on the latent pain relieving techniques by coaching the patients on proper ergonomics both at work and at home. Many people are familiar with the chiropractic therapy and its benefits. Chiropractors have served as a good alternative to orthopedic surgeons. Chiropractic therapy believes in a holistic approach towards health care. It lays stress on the well being and good mental health of a person. The theory behind chiropractic care is that there are numerous factors that affect your health in the form of heredity, type of exercises done from childhood, environmental surroundings, dietary habits and methods of relaxation. A chiropractor at the Wellness Center provides non surgical, natural and drugless treatment with total reliance on the body’s recuperative ability. A good chiropractor will always recommend changes in the lifestyle of people suffering with chronic back pain. He or she will pay attention and try to influence your sleeping, exercising, working and eating habits. Chiropractors follow a standard routine like the other medical practitioners while gathering the information that they need on their patients for diagnosis and course of treatment. They take the medical history of a patient and conduct physical, neurological and orthopedic checks. They depend on X-rays and other diagnostic images. They use only their hands to manipulate and mobilize your spine. A very important part of the chiropractic treatment is that it teaches you to take care of your mind as well as your body.

Seniors Looking for Relationships

You will find the senior citizens more vibrant these days than in the previous few generations. People are not stuck up any more. Even after they cross their retirement age, they have no issues in looking for mates. They feel that a senior match would be fun that could lead to a good and lasting relationship. Many relationship experts are of an opinion that dating to form a relationship is crucial to a positive mental frame of mind, regardless of your age. Age has got nothing to do with shedding your nervousness in developing intimate relationships. Most of the time, the fear behind a senior match is all in the minds of the seniors. People above forty need not fear when they feel like dating as it can be a casual experience devoid of pressures like financial stability or fear of parents. The pressure of responsibilities or economics is less at a later age when compared to younger people because seniors would already have crossed those hurdles of settling down in life and would be earning adequately. There are times in a person’s life when he or she may feel quite lonely. This may happen due to not marrying until late in life or losing a partner as a result of death or divorce. So, mature people trying to forge a senior match are actually seeking a lasting relationship and there should be nothing embarrassing about that. People who make fun of seniors dating are being immature and stupid. Even if you are above sixty and would like to date, it is your life; there is nothing to stop you from doing that. What is wrong in looking for love when you are over sixty? Your perfect partner would be waiting somewhere online. Dating on the web, even among seniors, has grown in popularity over the last few years as revealed by a recent survey which showed that more people in their sixties have started using the online dating sites more than ever.

The Bitter Truth about Fructose and how it endangers Health

A study that was done few years ago at the University of California in Davis has pointed out that new fat cells can build round your vital organs with a high fructose diet. It can take people into the early stages of diabetes and heart disease in just a matter of ten weeks whereas this was not the case with a high glucose diet. The study also revealed that a heavy fructose diet can contribute to obesity and insulin resistance. It is also responsible for hypertension, liver disease, cancer and arthritis. Fructose metabolises differently in your body than glucose would as per Dr. Mercola who talks about how glucose would not damage your metabolism in his own website, `Mercola.Com’. Dr. Mercola goes on to explain that glucose was meant to give you energy so that your body could run efficiently. He says that every cell in your body and “in fact, every living thing on the Earth- uses glucose for energy.” There is bad news for the corn industry giants as the high fructose corn syrup has been confirmed to alter the human metabolism as per Dr. Richard Johnson, author of the `Fat Switch’. Dr. Johnson mentions that if you receive your fructose from a source like only fruits and vegetables, you would probably be consuming about fifteen grams a day. But, if you take in one sweetened drink, it will give you about seventy three grams there itself. The fructose is mixed in with fiber, minerals and vitamins along with enzymes in natural fruits and vegetables. It will also give you the beneficial phytonutrients. There will not be a negative impact on your metabolism. Dr. Johnson says that fructose is not a damaging thing by itself. It is the dosage that makes it dangerous. The entire role of metabolising fructose is done by your liver. When people are taking in fructose in heavy doses, they will be facing negative effects on their liver. The study done at the University of California in Davis has also shown that almost fifty five per cent of sweeteners that are used in the food and beverage manufacturing industry are made out of corn syrup. The study asserts that the main source of calories in the American diet is the soda in the form of HFCS (high fructose corn syrup). This shift from sucrose to corn syrup started taking place in the nineteen seventies by the major food and beverage manufacturers. They found out that HFCS was cheaper to use. It was also twenty per cent sweeter than the refined table sugar. This switch has completely altered the average North American diet. The most unfortunate thing for the diabetics is that the low-fat diet foods are often found to be the highest in fructose. The fiber is also removed from these foods when they are processed. The nutritive value then becomes next to nothing. Dr. Robert Lustigi, Professor in the Division of Endocrinology at the University of California in San Francisco suggests that it is better for the diabetics to shift immediately to the stevia herb as a sweetener. He also recommends strongly the use of raw honey in moderate doses. To read and understand further on the impact of fructose on your metabolism, you may visit the link as given below.

Benefits of Juicing

Most people do not eat their daily amount of required vegetables and fruits on an average. Juicing benefits improve their health and make them prepared to avoid common illnesses and disorders. A juicer is our best friend when we want to start a healthy life. Juicing is easy and it helps us get all the natural nutrients and vitamins in one glass. Juicing will bring back energy we never knew we had. Among the best health juicing benefits are increased mental focus and an overall feeling of wellness. With the current fast paced life styles, it is important to get those daily required amounts of vegetables and fruits. We do not need to turn to caffeine drinks or bottled juices from the supermarket to remain awake and attentive throughout the workday. Juicing will help regularize the brain function while regulating the hormonal levels and even promoting our emotional well being. Juicing reaches instantly into our bloodstream, taking the nutrition directly to where it is needed. The juicing benefits are plenty: • Detoxification of body • Lowering of bad cholesterol levels • Improving the cardio-vascular system and heart health with lowering of blood pressure and better blood circulation • Regulation of body weight • Helps fight arthritis and strengthens the bones, joints and muscles • No constipation • Better skin and hair quality through riboflavin (B2) and anti-aging • Better Vision • More energy and stamina • Better Immune System in fighting diseases like cancer Detoxification Benefits Juicing is a wonderful way of detoxifying with juices to cleanse the body and become healthier. Healing and cell renewal is encouraged by juicing from vegetables and fruits. The toxins are expelled while providing our body with the needed ingredients when we detox with juices. Juicing is wonderful as it breaks the wall of the plant cells, causing the nutrients and the water content to spill out. The bulk is removed from the plant, leaving behind the plant nutrients that are easy for the body to use and process as the fiber cells are mainly separated from the watery and softer cells. The juicing benefits of detoxification are great because our body can use the plant’s nutrients to remain healthy and resist diseases exactly in the same way that the plant did before us. Nutritional Benefits Juicing fresh fruits and vegetables gives us nutritional benefits that are way beyond eating frozen, canned or even fresh fruits themselves. The longer vitamins and minerals are exposed to light, oxygen and other environmental factors, the less effective they become to our body. Fibers are great for our digestive system as they help in reducing weight while they retain the minerals and the vitamins our body requires. Juicing helps separate most of the fibers from the produce and gives us more nutrition on per ounce basis. Anti-inflammatory Benefits When people are looking for remedies to their arthritis problems, juicing benefits are the answer. Some vegetables and fruits are known for their anti-inflammatory qualities. For example, apple and cucumber both contain silica that is essential for healthy bones ad connective tissues. Turmeric also has anti-inflammatory properties. Other vegetables and fruits that have anti-inflammatory properties are ginger, celery and pineapple. Spinach and asparagus boost the riboflavin that is good for the bones and the roots of the hair. All these ingredients could well be blended in a juicer to derive the juicing benefits. Anti - aging Benefits If we are searching for a natural way of keeping our reverberant glow and energy intact, we will be happy to note that the anti-aging effects is definitely one of the marked health juicing benefits. It is a very good habit to develop of getting healthy and staying healthy. Juicing is the best possible way to make this happen.

Adopting a Holistic Approach for a Healthy Life

“Holistic living is a dedication to a lifestyle of balance and health” as per Dr. Linda Mundorff in her book `Take Control: A Guide to Holistic Living’. She is a traditional naturopath who believes that holistic living involves making time for your family and getting along with others. Adopting a holistic approach for a healthy life requires you to give importance to relaxation and spirituality. You need a commitment to a healthy diet, as per Dr. Linda Mundorff, to stay active throughout the day. She points out that there are several methods to go about this holistically. Dr. Maya Paul, writing for Helpguide.Org says, “Think about planning a healthy diet as a number of small manageable steps rather than one big drastic change to set you up for success. If you approach the changes gradually and with commitment, you will have a healthy diet sooner than you think.” Dr. Paul is a Health & Spirit Coach. She suggests three steps: • Simplify – Think about your diet in terms of color and freshness rather than being too much concerned about counting calories and checking portion sizes. • Start Slow – Make slow changes to your eating habits. It is not realistic to make your diet a healthy one overnight. Changing everything all of a sudden will have a negative impact and you may start hating your new eating scheme. • Whatever change you decide will matter – You do not need to be perfect and get rid of foods that you like or enjoy to get to a healthy diet. The ultimate objective is to feel good and get more energy and not to get bogged down or make your life miserable by making strict or difficult choices. The healthy food choices that you make should count and you can be happy with them. Alena Bowers, writing for Live Strong Magazine, says “Certain basics of nutrition must be met daily to eat a healthy diet.” The Help Guide website has suggested that you start to simplify your eating habits as earlier suggested by Dr. Maya Paul. Alena Bowers is also the author of `Alter this’. She is an educator and yoga instructor. She recommends that you start to implement healthier ways to eat on a gradual basis. You can start by serving smaller portions on your plate. You can chew slowly and be conscious of what you are eating rather than concentrating on the television or other people talking when you are eating food. Prema Scott Key writes in her book, “The Journey to Radiant Health”, that there are many holistic exercise methods to be tried. They are Yoga, Tai Chi and the Eastern Martial Arts as they incorporate the mind, body and the spirit. `Yoga’ actually means `Union’ in Sanskrit. The idea is to let you feel the unity within. Prema Key writes that “you can experience more endurance and enjoyment in life by becoming disciplined in holistic living”. Healthy eating is not just about a nutritional philosophy or depriving yourself of the foods you like. It is about beginning to feel good and have more energy to stabilize your mood and keep your body as well as mind healthy. To read more on adopting a holistic approach for a healthier life, you may go through these articles listed below.
